I always enjoy singing Norah Jones, and I like what the producer Danger Mouse,aka Brian Burton, has been done with his voice at Little Broken Heart. However,only three songs on this album really stand out to me: "Good Morning", "SayGoodbye" and "Out in the Street". The remaining material has a ho-hum sort ofquality that is always threatening to move to the background whatever I dobecause I listen. However, Burton deserves credit for a very well produced album.He added little bells and whistles that sound smooth flavor, plus some adjustments as artful with vocals (a little reverb here, a smidge double trackingthere). The musicians are also pretty good at all, including self-employed Jones'on keys and guitar. In the end, though, what I a killjoy with a small Broken Heart isthat so many songs, all co-written by Jones and Burton, totally unmemorable.Norah might suffer a bit from "Ryan Adams-Productivity Over Syndrome." Maybe with all the side projects (Little Willies, an album of Rome, acting), focusing on his own solo works diluted. Whatever the reason, this new album that sounds verynice but not special.
