Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48. Best known for hits "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" and "So Emotional," Houston is the only artist to consecutively chart seven No. 1 hits. During her illustrious career she earned 415 awards, making her the most-awarded female music artist of all time. Houston paved the way for female vocalists and will endure as one of music’s most beloved voices.

During the 80's and 90's, Whitney Houston is an unstoppable force in pop music. With sales expected to exceed 200 million records, he was one of the best-selling female singer ever.

Whitney Houston was born of a family singing with impressive credentials - his mother gospel singer Cissy Houston, her cousin is a five-time Grammy winner Dionne Warwick and her godmother is the 'Queen of Soul "herself, Aretha Franklin. The first break came when she sang background vocals on Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman" when she was only 16. He continued recording, singing and touring with his mother, but although he was offered a recording contract he turned them all until, in 1983, he signed with Arista.

Her debut album Whitney Houston appeared in 1985 but did not succeed. However, because the single "Saving All My Love for You" (which won a Grammy), "How Will I Know" and "Greatest Love All", finally reaching the top of the Billboard charts, and lodged there for several weeks. Critical acclaim, awards, television shows and massive sale to make sure the main entrance into the world of music for a new superstar Whitney Houston.

Follow-up album was 1987 nine-times platinum Whitney. It debuted at the top of the charts in many countries and the successful single "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)", "Did not We Almost up All", "So Emotional" and "Where do Broken Heart Go" gave her a record seven singles reach in a row at # 1.

The lead single from the album is a cover of Dolly Parton "I Will Always Love You" that cemented itself into the top of the charts in many countries. Next are the two album release soundtrack, Waiting to Exhale (which he contributed three songs) and The Preacher's wife, both of which support the film in which she acted the role.

In 1998 he released Love is a love that continues his exploration of urban sounds like hip-hop and reggae. Two years later he released Whitney: The Greatest Hits, but unfortunately this is marked slide in his wealth. When Just Whitney was released in 2002 has received poor reviews and a single failed to chart well. He followed it with a Christmas-themed record, One Wish: Holiday Album, which made even less. Since then, the column inches have been dedicated to the battle with drugs, and with her husband Bobby Brown (whom he married in 1992 after dating 3 years and divorced in 2007).
